Building Update

The workshop building project is now complete, and the emphasis shifts onto the building of the museum.  Please check out the museum section for details on this project.

Each time the page is updated, I'll include a short update relating to the progress.

7th October 2001 The inside of the running shed - showing the plant store & forklift undergoing repairs. A view from the end of the running shed, showing the groundwork conditions as the trackwork approaches the shed. And from the other direction - the tandem point needed given the space remaining is almost complete. The road to the right is an unloading road, and possibly access to the museum building.

10th June 2001

The roof & sides of the main workshop area are now obvious - roof soon to be added to the carriage shed area

Another internal view - this time, the scale of the building is more obvious - look at the fire door on the rear wall!

11th May 2001

The size of the building is now fully apparent. The main steelwork is now complete, with only the light steelwork to support the cladding to be added.

Another different view - this time from the corner of the building, where the machine shop will be located. The mass of steelwork making up the structure is overwhelming. Also note the overhead crane in situ.

16th April 2001

Overview of the workshop site. Foundations for the main workshop area now complete, and good progress is being made with the running shed area

Museum steelwork being unloaded into museum building footprint

1st April 2001

Different view this time. Here's the overhead crane. You should be able to see the excavations for the foundations around it.

Once again, a different view - you can see the levelled ground. No building action is expected here for a few weeks yet. The track visible will be removed in the next couple of weeks

No Museum shot this time - but here's the overhead crane, on site & repainted ready for the building to be erected around it
