Class 03 moves towards service |

The ex-Birkenhead North BR Class 03 locomotive, D2189, a former regular on the Southport / Liverpool "Merseyrail" line, is beginning to take giant strides towards restoration. A replacement power unit was delivered to site a number months ago, but now the old unit has been removed, and once cosmetic attention is completed to the engine bay, and new unit, it will be re-installed to continue the restoration of the loco, which hasn't seen service since BR days.
