Steelwork underway |
28/4/2001 |
The erection of the steelwork for the main workshop building is underway! The size of the building is now becoming obvious as the main crane building takes shape. Soon the overhead crane will be lifted into position, and the roof and cladding works can begin.
North Western Gas Board - Peckett No 1999 was awaiting the return of it's wheelsets before restoration could continue. These have recently arrived back after an eventful journey around a number of workshops in England, before a suitable lathe was located. Once the new spring hanger is rivetted into position, the chassis will be re-wheeled.
RSH 7485, Agecroft No.2 has had the majority of it's pipework replaced, and is now in line to star in the forthcoming 'beach party' at Preston Riversway. The engine will be used on demonstration goods trains throughout the day.
